Yesterday the Mayor of Carolina, Jose Aponte, stated on his Facebook page that there was an issue with how they redacted the ordinance.
We still have to be careful because the law is still in effect.
At the moment we are trying to get a confirmation from police leadership that cops will not issue fines.
It is important we are ready in case any cop decides to fine any of our responsible citizens.
Having the Right Tools
Almost everyone carries a smartphone in their pocket with a video camera.
One app I like is Stringwire which allows us to capture video and stream it online. I met Shawn Barcal (developer) and Mark Graham (SVP & GM) of Stringwire last week in Texas at SXSW. It is great that I get to use the app for social good created by some awesome individuals.
This app, owned by NBC, gives anyone the opportunity to capture a moment and immediately stream it online. It also stores it for you in the cloud and you have an extra backup in case you lose your device.
So please take the time to download Stringwire onto your phone.
Be Ready to Assist by Documenting
Feel free to immediately stream and use the hashtag #dogsofislaverde. We will have alerts in place to assist anyone in the Isla Verde area.
So I ask you that if you see anyone geting stopped with a dog on the beach, immediately stream the video.
If you are a local business in the Isla Verde area or a resident it would be great if you open your wifi signal for guests.
I will be working on opening up a network that might be available on parts of the beach.
We need to have full confirmation that the issue is resolved from the authorities, so we can’t let our guard down.
We are close to the finish line, so let’s keep going!
